Barbados has been the beneficiary of substantial generosity since COVID-19 dealt the country a major economic blow.
Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley told the country this morning that a large number of people with kind hearts recognised that the challenges the country now faces are not of its making and have stepped up to the plate to offset the burden that would otherwise have fallen squarely on the shoulders of taxpayers.
Prime Minister Mottley extended thanks to these individuals, saying the country will forever be grateful.
Noting that being generous itself breeds further generosity, the Prime Minister told the House of Assembly that was why she had no problem sharing the gift of vaccines from India with neighbours, even though what the country got was not enough to cover its own population.
It is who we are, the Prime Minister declared when debate on the 2021-22 Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure resumed in the House of Assembly this morning.
